An alignment is a line that shows the center of whatever you are designing. You attach design items to the alignment. Alignments are used in nearly every civil engineering project to help layout any kind of linear design feature. For example, the starting point for any road system is the centerline alignment.

The style of an alignment determines how it looks. You define the style and the symbology used to display the alignment.
